AirlineRatings has upgraded Thai Airways International’s safety rating from 6/7 to a perfect 7/7, citing renewed confidence in the airline’s financial stability and operational improvements following its successful business rehabilitation.

Previously, the airline had been marked down due to financial concerns stemming from years of losses and mounting debt that were accelerated due to COVID. However, after a significant restructuring process and sustained recovery efforts, Thai Airways has emerged leaner, stronger, and more focused. The company is now operating with a reduced debt load and has introduced new revenue-generating initiatives as part of a broader effort to regain its former prestige.

The timing of the ratings upgrade coincides with Thai Airways launching its new brand campaign: "Fly for the New Pride." This campaign signals a refreshed identity and renewed confidence as the airline positions itself to resume trading on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), which it had exited during the height of its financial crisis.

The safety score boost from AirlineRatings is based on a range of factors including, ICAO and IOSA audits, FAA and EU blacklists, incident history, and—critically in Thai Airways’ case—financial viability. A 7/7 rating places THAI in the top tier of global carriers when it comes to passenger safety.
